My Learning Object

This week I created a really neat activity for the students to do. In science we are learning about Earth and Space Systems. For this activity I focused on the expectation 3.3: Explain how humans meet their basic biological needs in space. You can view the other science expectations for this unit here. The unit begins on page 121.  I think the students had some great opportunities to research, to learn about space, and to implement how tech savvy they are! Woohoo grade 6s!

  1. I really enjoyed looking at your Grade 6 Earth and Space Systems learning object using PowToon. It is a super fun and engaging learning tool to introduce students to a class mission. What a great way to spice up the science curriculum and allows students to explore the idea of humans being able to survive in space. I love how you gave a clear overview of the criteria that the students needed to meet to succeed. I also like how you introduced the learning object on your blog so that your audience has a good understanding of how to use this tool. Awesome work!!

  2. I agree with Jillian! Great work!

In the future you might also consider sharing the assignment outline and criteria here on your blog so your students can find it outside of the presentation. :)

  3. Miranda, I really enjoyed your PowToon about Earth and Space Systems! Your PowToon was very engaging and informative for the students, highlighting the required criteria and expectations. Also, using a 'mission' theme is a unique way to inspire students to engage with the space lesson. The video presentation clearly links to expectation 3.3 for grade 6. Great job!
