My TPACK Journey
Creating an eBook gave me many new skills to use in my technological life as a teacher! The number one thing that I learned was how to make my slideshows fun! I had never used transitions or animations with my presentations before. It was also a lot of fun to learn how to embed things into my eBook, like videos! I have become far more comfortable and could see myself creating eBooks and using these little tips and tricks that I've learned along the way.
I could see myself using eBooks in junior grades to have students create and present presentations. Instead of the traditional posterboard presentation, it would be great to have students create an eBook and play it for the class. If they are able to master voice overs like we did, they could create the entire project and present it without even opening their mouths or leaving their seats! This is great for students who are shy. They can do all the hard work at home or in a computer lab, and then not have to stress about being in front of their peers.
I think the biggest pedagogical strategy I learned from this, is SCAFFOLDING! This is an overwhelming task if it's all presented at once. However, breaking up the different tasks into separate lessons makes the task far less daunting, and even fun! We kept building on the skills we learned in the last class, further cementing the skills into our memories. I think that these skills are imperative for any technologically literate person! They will definitely be used in future classrooms, and I hope I can instill what I've learned onto my future students.
