Common Noun Game

Hi students! Hope you had a great day in class today! As I mentioned, we are going to be continuing to look at the difference between common and proper nouns. There is a really fun where you get to act as a scorpion that eats bugs that are common nouns. If you want to practice (and have some fun!) before class tomorrow, check out this Common Noun Game tonight!

Hi Moms and Dads and Grandmas and Grandpas and ALL other Guardians!
If you're wondering about the game I have linked above, I'd love to tell you all about it! In Grade 2 the Ontario Ministry wants our students to be able to use grammar properly. This is something that I also want our students to be able to do :). Right now we are focusing on "Applying Knowledge of Language Conventions" specifically the use of common and proper nouns. If you take a look at page 58 of the Language Curriculum Document section 3.5 Grammar, you will see the specific expectation that this game is meeting. This game gives students a chance to identify which of the 4 words is a common noun. In class today we learned that proper nouns always have a capital, so this should help your child as a reminder if they are having trouble identifying the common noun!

Have fun helping your child reinforce their noun knowledge! As always, if you have any questions please send me an email and I will get back to you as soon as I can!
